Reverse description A detailed harbour scene occupying the full field depicts three galleys moored along a quay, flanked by a colonnaded portico. At the centre stands a nude male figure, erect and facing, with head turned to the right, holding in one hand an uncertain object identified as either a torch or a small statuette, and in the other what may be a sceptre. In the background, three temple facades are visible, evoking the monumental architecture of the colonia. The colonial legend is distributed across the field, and the composition as a whole constitutes one of the most ambitious harbour representations known on Roman provincial bronze coinage. The scene is believed to depict the harbour of Patras, reflecting the city's status as a prominent Augustan colony and maritime centre.
