Reverse description Zeus Strategos depicted standing, facing, his body rendered frontally in a hieratic pose befitting a civic patron deity. He holds a long vertical sceptre in his right hand while his left arm rests upon his hip. To the left of the principal figure, an eagle stands facing left with its head turned to the right, serving as a traditional attribute of Zeus. The composition reflects the important local cult of Zeus Strategos venerated at Amastris, with the reverse legend distributed across the field.
