Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Vespasian facing left, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Ionian civic coinage. The portrait displays the characteristic features of the Flavian emperor with a sturdy, mature physiognomy. A continuous Greek legend surrounds the effigy along the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The flan is somewhat irregular and shows the characteristic rough surfaces of a heavily circulated provincial bronze issue.
