Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valerian facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view used on certain provincial issues. The emperor's paludamentum is visible over the cuirass, conveying his dual role as commander and sovereign. A Greek imperial legend encircles the effigy, reading from the left field around the periphery of the flan. The portrait style is consistent with Ephesian provincial bronzes of the joint reign period, reflecting a robust, high-relief engraving tradition.
