| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two divine figures depicted standing facing one another within the field. To the left, the cult statue of Artemis Ephesia stands frontally in the characteristic rigid, xoanon-like pose, adorned with multiple rows of breast-like ornaments and flanked by supporting stag figures, rendered in the well-known Ephesian tradition. To the right, Asclepius stands facing, head turned to the left, leaning with his right hand upon a tall serpent-entwined staff (kerykeion). The Greek bipartite legend in the field or exergue identifies the issuing civic alliance between Ephesus and Pergamon. |
