| Beschrijving keerzijde | Sarapis enthroned to the left upon a high-backed throne, his right arm extended forward above Cerberus, the three-headed guardian of the underworld, who is depicted seated at his feet. The god holds a long sceptre vertically in his left hand, and wears the characteristic modius (kalathos) headdress atop his head. The composition is characteristic of the Serapis cult type widely adopted by Bithynian civic mints. The ethnic legend ΚΙΑΝΩΝ is disposed in the left field, identifying the issuing city of Cius. |
