| Obverse description | Draped bust of the personified Roman Senate facing right, rendered with curling hair and drapery visible at the truncation. The legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) encircles the bust, a convention found on civic bronzes of the Trajanic period in the conventus of Sardis. The portrait is executed in a bold provincial style typical of Lydian civic coinage of the early second century AD. |
