Additional information

Maeonia was a minor Lydian inland town whose coins are notable chiefly for their magistrate series — the ΕΠΙ formula naming the local official responsible for the issue. The magistrate rendered here as ΑΙ ϹΕΙΛΩΝΟϹ (likely Aeilon or a Hellenized local name) is otherwise unattested in the epigraphic record, making this bronze one of the few surviving traces of his tenure. The reference suffix "A" in III#2417A signals a die variant within an already thinly documented emission.
