Obverse description Radiate head of the deified Augustus facing left, rendered in provincial style with rays of the radiate crown clearly articulated. A thunderbolt appears in the left field, serving as a divine attribute reinforcing the posthumous cult status of Augustus. The portrait displays characteristic Julio-Claudian iconography adapted for local colonial coinage. The legend EX D D (ex decreto decurionum) appears in the field, indicating the coin was issued by decree of the local town council of the Roman colony at Sinope.
