| Obverse description | Bare head of Germanicus facing right, rendered in profile with naturalistic portraiture typical of early Imperial provincial coinage. The effigy displays short hair with fine strands articulated across the forehead and temples. The circular Greek legend ΓΕΡΜΑΝΙΚΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ ΚΤΙΣΤΗΣ surrounds the bust, identifying Germanicus as founder (ktistes) of the city. The workmanship reflects the Bithynian provincial die-cutting tradition of the Julio-Claudian period. |
