| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Septimius Severus facing right, with short curled beard, rendered in the characteristic Severan portrait style. The emperor is depicted with paludamentum visible at the shoulder truncation. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan, beginning at upper left and continuing clockwise. The die work reflects the provincial engraving tradition of Bithynia, with broad flan and somewhat coarse but expressive portraiture. |
