| Beschrijving keerzijde | Athena standing facing with head turned to the left, depicted in a static, hieratic pose characteristic of provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period. The goddess rests her right arm upon a large round shield set on the ground, while her left hand holds a long spear upright. The figure is rendered in a full-length standing pose with drapery falling to the feet. The encircling Greek legend in the field identifies the issuing city of Nicomedia and its twice-awarded neocorate status. The reverse field shows consistent wear and patination throughout. |
