Reverse description Athena standing facing with head turned to the left, her right arm extended forward presenting an owl above a small flaming altar, while her left hand rests on an upright spear with a large round shield set at her side. The goddess is depicted in full martial panoply in the classical provincial style, her figure occupying the central field. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field or around the periphery, identifying the coin as an issue of the city of Nicaea in Bithynia.
