Additional information

Iuliopolis was a minor Bithynian city whose civic coinage under Septimius Severus survives in very small numbers — the mint was neither prolific nor particularly active, and the city itself rarely appears in the historical record outside administrative lists. Its coins are collected largely because the place vanished so completely; by the Byzantine period, Iuliopolis had effectively ceased to function as an urban center.
