Reverse description Dionysus, the god of wine, stands facing left in a relaxed contrapposto pose, his weight shifted onto one leg. In his right hand he raises a long thyrsus, the fennel-staff wreathed with ivy characteristic of the deity, while his left hand gathers his flowing garment or nebris. At his feet to the right, a cantharus (wine cup) and a recumbent panther complete the Dionysiac iconography, a composition frequently employed on civic bronzes of Lydian cities. The reverse legend is arranged around the field within a beaded border, naming the local magistrate responsible for the issue.
