| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Septimius Severus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Mesopotamian civic coinage. The emperor's effigy occupies the central field, with the laurel wreath visible atop the head. The Greek legend ϹΕΠΤΙΜΙΟϹ ϹΕΟΥΗΡΟϹ runs around the periphery of the coin, identifying the emperor. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show characteristic dark patination consistent with hammered bronze provincial issues. |
