| Reverse description | Tyche, the personification of Fortune, depicted standing in full figure facing left, draped in a long chiton and himation. She holds a ship's rudder in her right hand, resting its base on the ground, and cradles a cornucopia (horn of plenty) in her left arm, overflowing with fruits. The figure stands on a groundline within a plain field, surrounded by the encircling ethnic legend of the city of Mesambria. The composition is characteristic of Thracian provincial bronzes of the Severan and early Gordian-Philippian periods. |
