The entire design is enclosed within a laurel wreath border, a common compositional device on Bithynian civic bronzes. The reverse legend ΝΕΙΚΟΜΗΔΕΩΝ ΜΗ identifies the issuing city of Nicomedia and likely denotes a denominational or civic era numeral. The die work is characteristic of provincial mint production under Nero, with moderate relief and somewhat worn execution. |
