Æ26 - Gordian III ΠΡΟΥϹΑΕΩΝ

Prusa ad Olympum — modern Bursa, at the foot of Mount Uludağ — was a prosperous Bithynian city that maintained an active civic bronze coinage through much of the third century. Under Gordian III, provincial mints across Asia Minor struck heavily to meet local demand during a reign defined by near-constant military campaigning, culminating in the Persian expedition of 244 that ended with Gordian's death, possibly at the hands of his own troops near Zaitha on the Euphrates.
