| Beschrijving keerzijde | The enthroned goddess Cybele, Magna Mater, is depicted seated to the left upon a high-backed throne, her right hand extending a patera in an offering gesture while her left arm rests upon a tympanum placed beside her. A lion, sacred attribute of the goddess, crouches at her feet to the left. The civic legend of Iuliopolis encircles the reverse field, affirming the issuing authority of this provincial bronze issue. The composition reflects the standard iconographic programme for Cybele on Bithynian civic coinage of the Severan and post-Severan period. |
