| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from behind, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the articulated pteryges of the cuirass rendered in detail at the lower truncation. The imperial effigy is rendered in the typical provincial style of mid-third-century Macedonian coinage. The circular legend surrounds the bust, reading IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG in Latin capitals. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The god Pan seated left upon a rocky outcrop, his right arm raised with the hand brought up toward his head in a characteristic pose of repose or contemplation, while his left hand holds the pedum (shepherd's crook). A syrinx (panpipes) is depicted in the left field, referencing Pan's identity as god of the wild and music. The composition reflects the Hellenistic artistic tradition still prevalent in provincial Macedonian coinage of the Severan and post-Severan period. The colonial legend of Pella encircles the reverse type. |
