| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view. The radiate crown, paludamentum, and cuirass are rendered in the provincial style typical of Achaean civic coinage of the mid-3rd century AD. The imperial legend encircles the bust in Greek characters within the field. The flan is irregularly shaped, as is common for locally struck provincial bronzes of this period. |
