| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of the Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter front view, with drapery visible over the left shoulder. The effigy displays the characteristic youthful features of Gordian III as represented in Phrygian provincial coinage. The obverse legend runs around the periphery in Greek characters. The flan is slightly irregular, typical of locally struck provincial bronzes of the Severan-Gordian period. |
