Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gallienus facing right, depicted from the front, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy presents the emperor in military attire, consistent with the iconographic conventions of mid-third-century provincial coinage. The encircling Greek legend identifies the subject in the accusative case, typical of honorific dedication formulae on Peloponnesian civic issues.

Reverse description Archaic xoanon-type cult statue of Athena Chalkioikos standing to the right, right arm raised and extended to hurl a spear, left arm bearing a round shield. The deliberately archaizing rendering of the goddess reflects Sparta's strong antiquarian identity in civic coinage of the Roman imperial period. The ethnic legend ΛΑΚΕΔΑΙΜΟΝΙΩΝ is distributed around the field, with the denomination mark ΑϹ Η (8 assaria) also present.
