| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered three-quarter from the rear, with the radiate crown clearly distinguishing his imperial status. The effigy displays the characteristic youthful features associated with this emperor, set within a plain field. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust, running along the periphery of the flan. The engraving is executed in the provincial workshop style typical of the Sardis mint under the Severan dynasty, with bold, if somewhat rough, relief. |
