She holds a patera in her extended right hand and rests her left hand upon a large round shield set at her side; a grounded spear stands upright beside her. The ethnic legend ΑΤΤΑΛΕΑΤΩΝ is inscribed around the field, identifying the issuing city of Attalea in Lydia. The bold, somewhat schematic rendering of the figure is consistent with the workshop style of the Pergamene conventus during the reign of Commodus. |
