Midaeum was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Caracalla reflects the broader explosion of Greek Imperial bronze production during his reign — a period when dozens of small Asia Minor communities struck local issues, partly to fund civic obligations and partly to assert municipal identity under an increasingly centralized Roman administration. The city's coins are sparsely documented, and V.2#1454 represents one of the few catalogued types attributable to this mint.
