| Beschrijving voorzijde | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian I facing right, portrayed from the rear in the so-called 'heroic' three-quarter perspective typical of mid-third-century provincial coinage. The radiate crown is clearly rendered, and the paludamentum and scale armour are visible on the shoulder and chest. A Greek legend surrounds the effigy along the periphery of the flan, partially legible on this example due to the irregular striking. |
