Reverse description Standing figure of Demeter, rendered in full length, facing left. In her extended right hand she holds ears of grain directed downward, while her left hand grasps a long, upright torch. The goddess is depicted draped in a flowing chiton and himation in the Hellenistic tradition common to Bithynian civic bronzes. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea.
