Obverse description Draped bust of Empress Salonina facing right, her hair elaborately arranged and secured with a diadem, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. The effigy displays a crescent or stephane behind the shoulder, typical of her portraiture on Eastern provincial issues. The surrounding legend in Greek identifies the Augusta by her full imperial titulature. The flan is irregular, and the strike is somewhat weak on the periphery, consistent with hammered provincial bronze production.
