| Reverse description | Standing figure of Valerian I in military dress, facing left, holding a long sceptre in his left hand and extending his right hand toward Gallienus, who stands to his right also facing left and carrying a spear. To the far right, a togate male figure — tentatively identified as Saloninus — stands facing left, possibly holding a baton. At the feet of the figures, an altar is indicated. The multi-figure composition celebrates the dynastic harmony of the Valerianic imperial family, a motif frequently employed on Nicaean civic bronzes of the period. The reverse legend identifying the issuing city appears in the field. |
