In his extended right hand he holds a patera for libation, while his left hand rests upon a tall vertical sceptre. An eagle stands at his feet to the left, a common attribute of Zeus in Asia Minor provincial issues. The ethnic legend ΤΙΑΝΩΝ, identifying the mint city of Tium, appears in the field or exergue, attesting to civic pride in this Pontic coastal community. |
