| 裏面の説明 | Central field depicts two tall flaming torches standing upright, each entwined by a serpent rising from the base, their heads rearing toward the flames at the summit — a composition strongly associated with chthonic and mystery cult imagery prevalent at Cyzicus. Between the two torches stands a lighted altar, its flame rendered in relief. The Greek legend, divided across the field and exergue, records the name of the strategus Apollonides and identifies Cyzicus by its prestigious neokorate title, denoting its status as an imperial cult centre. |
