| 背面描述 | The cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus (Ephesia) standing facing, rendered in the distinctive archaic xoanon style, wearing a kalathos (polos) on her head and adorned with multiple rows of ova or breasts on the torso, with lateral supports or stags flanking the lower body. The figure is presented frontally in the hieratic manner characteristic of the Ephesian Artemis type as reproduced on provincial coinage of Asia Minor. The reverse legend, disposed around the type in the field, records the civic titles of Metropolis in Phrygia. |
