| Descripción del reverso | Dionysus, the god of wine, stands facing with head turned to the left, rendered in a relaxed contrapposto stance. In his right hand he holds a long thyrsus, the characteristic staff of the Dionysiac cult, while in his left he extends a cantharus over a panther positioned to the lower left. The panther, a sacred animal of Dionysus, is depicted facing left at the god's feet. The ethnic legend ΘΥΑΤΕΙΡΗΝΩΝ is arranged in the field around the reverse type, identifying the issuing city of Thyatira. The composition reflects the standard iconography of Dionysus widely employed on the civic bronze coinage of Lydia during the Severan period. |
