背面描述 Artemis depicted in dynamic running pose, moving to the left, her right hand drawing an arrow from the quiver slung over her shoulder while her left hand holds the bow. A dog runs to the left in the lower left field, accompanying the goddess in the hunt. The composition reflects the standard Lydian civic type associating Thyatira with the cult of Artemis, rendered in the energetic, linear style characteristic of provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period. The ethnic legend ΘΥΑΤΕΙΡΗΝΩΝ appears in the field.

附加信息

Thyatira, a Lydian city absorbed into the Roman province of Asia, was one of the most prolific municipal minters in the Pergamene conventus — its civic bronze output under the Severan dynasty was substantial enough that die-sharing with neighboring cities has been documented. The city's economy ran heavily on textile dyeing and wool trade, the same industry that later gave the biblical Lydia of Thyatira her occupation in Acts 16.

RPC VI 4385 places this squarely within the city's standard civic issues for Alexander's reign, a thirteen-year stretch that produced considerable variety in reverse types across the Pergamene district.
