| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Severus Alexander facing right, the laurel wreath rendered with fine detail atop the youthful imperial effigy. Drapery is visible on the left shoulder, conveying the paludamentum or cuirass beneath. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan. The portrait reflects the characteristic youthful features associated with Alexander's coinage from eastern provincial mints, executed in a somewhat provincial style typical of Mesopotamian issues. |
