Reverse description Hermes, the divine messenger and patron of commerce, depicted standing facing with head turned to the left. The god holds a purse in his outstretched right hand and a caduceus in his left, with a chlamys draped over his arm. At his feet to the left, a ram is shown recumbent and looking back, an attribute closely associated with Hermes in his role as psychopomp and pastoral deity. The ethnic legend ΑΚΜΟΝΕΩΝ is disposed around the field, identifying the civic authority of Acmonea in Phrygia. The composition is typical of Phrygian provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period.
