The hair is elaborately arranged with a diadem above the brow, and the drapery is visible at the shoulder and neck. The encircling Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ΜΑΜΑΙΑ ϹΕΒ identifies the empress as Augusta, mother of Severus Alexander. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze production. |
