| Beschrijving keerzijde | The river god Maiandros (Maeander) personified as a reclining male figure turned to the left, holding a long reed in his right hand and a cornucopia in his left, with his left arm resting upon an overturned water urn from which water flows — the conventional iconographic attribute of river deities in Greek provincial coinage. The figure reclines in a relaxed pose characteristic of Hellenistic and Roman river-god representations. The Greek legend surrounding the type identifies both the civic issuing authority and the deity depicted. |
