Amorium sat in the interior of Phrygia, well removed from the major administrative centers of the Synnada conventus, and its civic bronze issues under Septimius Severus reflect a municipal authority making deliberate use of the new emperor's legitimacy during the chaos of the Year of the Five Emperors. Severus moved quickly to court provincial loyalty after seizing power in 193, and cities across Asia Minor responded with local bronze issues that effectively declared their allegiance before the civil wars against Pescennius Niger and Clodius Albinus were even resolved.
The Synnada conventus issues from this period are thinly documented; V.2#1195 remains one of the few catalog anchors for Amorium's Severan output.
