| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philippus II as Caesar facing right, portrayed with youthful features. The effigy displays paludamentum over the cuirass, rendered in the provincial hammered style characteristic of the Pella mint. A Latin legend encircles the portrait within a beaded border. The workmanship reflects the relatively modest production quality typical of Macedonian colonial bronzes of the mid-third century AD. |
