| Beschrijving keerzijde | A syncretistic deity combining Apollo and Mên is depicted mounted on horseback, riding to the right, a composition characteristic of Phrygian civic bronzes of the mid-third century AD. The rider carries a double axe (labrys) resting over the shoulder, an attribute strongly associated with Anatolian religious iconography. The horse is rendered in a lively gait, and the overall composition fills the central field. The ethnic legend of the issuing community encircles the design. This unusual syncretic type reflects the blending of Greek, Roman, and indigenous Phrygian religious traditions at Stectorium. |
