The imperial effigy is surrounded by a Greek legend naming the empress. The flan shows irregular edges characteristic of provincial hammered bronze issues, and the coin surface carries an extensive patina consistent with its antiquity. |

A circular Greek legend surrounds the entire design, commemorating the homonoia (concord) between the cities of Hierapolis and Ephesus and their shared neocorate status. This homonoia type is characteristic of civic alliance coinage struck in Asia Minor during the Severan and Philippan periods. |
