Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, seen from the rear, with the radiate crown rendered in low relief. The imperial effigy is presented in the military manner typical of mid-third-century provincial bronze coinage. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust within the field, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with the hand-struck provincial mint production of Phrygia under Philip I.
