| Beschrijving keerzijde | The river god Gallos, personification of the local Phrygian river, is depicted seated to the left in a relaxed, semi-recumbent posture. He holds a cornucopia in one arm and a reed in the other hand, symbols of abundance and his aquatic nature, while resting his elbow upon an overturned water urn from which water flows. The figure is rendered in the conventional Hellenistic tradition for river deity iconography common to Phrygian civic coinage. The reverse legend naming the city of Philomelion and the local magistrate Marcus Nestor is distributed around the field. |
