The empress wears a stephane-style diadem and a garment draped over the left shoulder. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-hammered provincial coinage of the mid-third century AD. |

The figure is rendered in the conventional provincial Roman style, with the patera gesture referencing imperial piety and sacral authority. The multi-line Greek legend encircles the field, naming the local magistrate Aurelius Anteros, son of Zotikos, as first archon of the city of Appia. The reverse is characteristic of Phrygian civic bronze coinage struck under Philip I. |
