Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip II facing right, rendered three-quarter from the rear in the characteristic provincial style of the Sardis mint. The radiate crown is rendered with clearly defined spikes, and the paludamentum is visible at the shoulder. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the bold, somewhat schematic engraving typical of Lydian provincial bronzes of the mid-third century AD.

Reverse description The celebrated sanctuary of Aphrodite Paphia depicted in schematic frontal elevation, showing the distinctive multi-columned temple façade with a central arched or gabled feature and flanking colonnades, a type closely derived from the famous cult image and precinct at Paphos in Cyprus. The structure is rendered with vertical architectural elements rising from a curved or semicircular base, conveying the sacred enclosure of the goddess. The reverse legend encircles the design in the field and along the lower border, proclaiming the city's twice-granted neocorate status and its devotion to Aphrodite Paphia. The overall composition reflects Sardis's civic pride in its imperial cult privileges.
