Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, depicted in three-quarter front view. The effigy shows the emperor in military dress with pauldrons visible at the shoulder. A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait in the field, reading ΑΥΤ Μ ΙΟΥ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟϹ ϹΕ. The flan is irregularly shaped with characteristic provincial hammered fabric, and the surfaces show a dark olive-green patina consistent with prolonged circulation.
