The Magnetes of Thessaly — a regional league rather than a single polis — issued bronze coinage under Nero that reflects the administrative reorganization of Greek communities under Roman provincial rule. In 67 AD, Nero famously proclaimed the "freedom of Greece" at the Isthmian Games, temporarily exempting Achaea from direct taxation, a gesture reversed by Vespasian just two years later.
